Eswatini
Eswatini is a small Kingdom bordering on South Africa and Mozambique, so small that doing a tour in only Eswatini is not possible, as it takes only about 3 days to see this country completely.
We normally do it as part of our South Africa tour, driving through it in two to three days and continuing out into South Africa again.
Two days in this green gem of Africa throws you into a rich cultural experience, of music, dance and handicrafts of candle making, recycled glass products, batiks and woodcarvings.
But Eswatini can also offer you a longer stay with white water rafting, caving, and hiking up some of the largest granite formations in the world.
The Phophonyane Falls Eco Reserve in the northern part of the country is a network of trails winding through the forests, crossing little streams and culminating at the Phophonyane Falls where we see exposed, some of the worlds’ oldest rocks dated at 3.55 billion years ago.
The Ngwenya Glass Factory, at the Ngwenya Arts and Crafts Village, is famous for its recycled glass ornaments, serving bowls and sculptures.
Other places of interests include a private Swazi homestead, Mantenga Cultural village, Mantenga Falls, Sibebe Rock- the second largest exposed granite dome in the world, Swaziland National Museum, and the Manzini Main Market.
